Meet the AST Coaching Team

🎓 SE Level 2 Coach

Oliver is a fantastic example of the community spirit at the heart of AST. A former Masters swimmer, he first became involved with the club as a swim parent before volunteering as a Team Manager. From there, he moved into coaching, completing his Level 1 qualification in 2024 and achieving Level 2 in early 2025. Ollie’s commitment, knowledge and passion for developing our swimmers saw him appointed as Head Coach in September 2026. As both a coach and swim parent, he has a great understanding of the swimmer journey and the importance of creating an environment where swimmers can enjoy the sport, develop their skills and achieve their individual goals. As Head Coach, Ollie leads our coaching team and the continued development of AST’s training and competitive programmes, while remaining very much part of the friendly, community-focused club that started his own coaching journey.

🎓 SE Level 2 Coach, Qualified Judge, Team Manager, (Trustee)

A former Masters swimmer, Lewis joined in 2024 with a mission to create a fun and engaging environment for our Junior Squad. He excels at developing skills and confidence as young swimmers transition from lessons to club swimming. Since taking on new roles to support the club he now supports Ollie with the development squads.

Lewis is also a qualified Judge and Team Manager, and plays a vital role in organizing team galas, giving new swimmers their first exciting taste of racing.

🎓 SE Level 2 Coach, Level 2 Teacher

Tom taught many of our newest members to swim! He began coaching in 2024 and achieved his Level 1 in April 2025. He was nominated for the Swim England Teacher of the Year award in 2024.

He has now gained his Level 2 coaching qualification and is a great asset to our coaching team, taking over the Junior Squad in 2026.

🎓 SE Level 1 Coach, Level 2 Teacher

A dedicated AST swimmer since 2015 and a perfect role model. He is a multiple club record holder and has represented the club at county and regional level. He is now supporting our younger squad members on their journey.

🎓 SE Level 1 Coach

Chris joined in April 2024 to support our Junior Squad. He is a key part of the team welcoming our youngest swimmers and provides fantastic support at team galas.

🎓 SE Level 2 Teacher

Lauren is a qualified Level 2 Teacher and current performance swimmer who works closely with our younger swimmers. She plays an important role in helping children build confidence in the water and develop their swimming skills from an early age.
